The floor is the part of a trailer that does the most work and gets the least attention. Wood decks dry out, split, and rot, and once a board goes soft it can let a wheel, a pallet, or a foot punch straight through. Phoenix Titans, LLC replaces trailer floors and deck boards on flatbeds, utility trailers, car haulers, equipment trailers, and enclosed cargo trailers, so your load sits on a surface you can trust.
Wood Deck Board Replacement
Most open trailers use pressure-treated pine or apitong decking. Treated pine is affordable and widely available, which makes it a common choice for utility and landscape trailers. Apitong is a dense hardwood often found on equipment and car hauler trailers because it resists wear from tracks, tires, and heavy point loads. We can replace a few damaged boards to match what you have, or redeck the entire trailer when most of the wood has reached the end of its life.
Phoenix conditions are rough on wood. Long stretches of dry heat pull moisture out of boards until they shrink, check, and crack, while monsoon rains soak into those cracks and sit against the steel. Repeating that cycle every summer leads to soft spots, especially near the fender wells and the rear of the deck where water collects.
Enclosed Trailer Plywood and the Frame Underneath
Enclosed trailers usually have plywood floors that hide damage from roof leaks or wet cargo. A floor that feels spongy or bows when you walk across it often has rot or delamination underneath the surface. We cut out failed sections or replace the full sheet, then secure the new floor properly.
Removing old decking is the best opportunity to inspect the crossmembers. We look for rust, cracked welds, and bent or sagging members that would undermine a new floor. When structural repair is needed, our trailer welding repair service can reinforce or replace damaged steel before the new deck goes down.
Our floor and deck services include:
- Deck Board Replacement: Swapping out broken, split, or rotted boards in treated pine or apitong.
- Full Trailer Redeck: Removing all old wood and installing a complete new deck.
- Plywood Floor Replacement: Replacing soft or delaminated plywood in enclosed and cargo trailers.
- Soft Spot Repair: Cutting out localized rot and patching in solid material.
- Crossmember Inspection: Checking the steel under the deck for rust, cracks, and bends.
- Fastener Replacement: Installing new deck screws or bolts in place of rusted and loose hardware.
When It Is Time for a New Floor
Plan on floor work if boards flex or bounce under your weight, if you see dark staining or mushroom-soft wood, or if fasteners have rusted, backed out, or pulled through. Gaps wide enough for straps or tools to slip through, splintered edges, and boards that rock loose are also signs. Hauling heavy equipment up the I-17 or across long highway stretches on a weak deck is a risk not worth taking.
